O Pelouro: centro que aplica lo que investiga (O Pelouro: school that applies what it researchs)

En el post de hoy trataremos un vídeo que estuvimos viendo en clase sobre un centro de educación con gran atención a la diversidad llamado O Pelouro.

Este centro llamaba la atención pues es un centro que no sigue las reglas convencionales como el resto de los centros. Este centro tiene la atención a la diversidad como eje central de la educación, por lo que mezcla a estudiantes con síndrome de Down o autismo (entre otros) con niños sin ningún tipo de problema de aprendizaje, lo que hace que ambos niños colaboren entre ellos y aprendan el uno del otro. Es un enfoque muy enriquecedor que muestra que todos los niños pueden estar integrados justos. 

Además, este centro tiene mucha investigación, lo que hace que se prueben cosas nuevas y se siga innovando y cambiando las cosas que no funcionan. Ellos trabajan por proyectos lo que da mucha libertad a los estudiantes para que sigan sus intereses a la vez que integran los conocimientos de lo que trabajan. 

Entiendo que este tipo de centros no funcionarán para todo el mundo, pero era muy emotivo ver en el vídeo el punto de vista de un padre que decía que él solo necesitaba un centro que motivara a su hija, uno del que saliera contenta y ÉSE era precisamente lo que su hija necesitaba. 

Echad un vistazo al video y contadme que opináis de este tipo de centros. ¿Conocéis alguno parecido? 

Por otro lado, y relacionado con el tema de que uno de los aspectos positivos del centro es que tiene mucha investigación, por lo que los profesores están en constante formación. En mi experiencia personal, para mi Trabajo de Fin de Grado, realicé una investigación sobre la educación, basándome en qué aspectos era necesario mejorar en el BOECYL ya que es la base de la educación secundaria y en el ámbito del inglés, en el área de pronunciación no existían unas directrices claras que seguir y mucho menos basadas en la comunicación. Ahora mismo, estoy comenzando un proyecto de investigación en el que haré estudiaré la transición del alumnado en vulnerabilidad social desde primaria hasta la ESO; para ello, visitaré cuatro centros, dos de primaria y dos de secundaria. 

Me interesa mucho la investigación relacionada con la educación, pero sobre todo, me interesa mucho más que se aplique en la vida real aquellos resultados que se obtengan: nuestro objetivo es mejorar la educación de los estudiantes, no pasar el rato teorizando sobre ello sin luego no desarrollar ninguna medida. Podemos hacer un cambio real en ellos, y eso es un valor que promueve el centro O Pelouro: utilizan la investigación para mejorar su centro.

Good morning, little stars!

In today's post we will discuss a video we were watching in class about an education center with great attention to diversity called O Pelouro.

This center attracted attention because it is a center that does not follow the conventional rules like the rest of the centers. This center has the attention to diversity as the central axis of education, so it mixes students with Down syndrome or autism (among others) with children without any kind of learning problem, which makes both children collaborate with each other and learn from each other. It is a very enriching approach that shows that all children can be fairly integrated. 

Also, this center has a lot of research, which makes them try new things and keep innovating and changing things that don't work. They work by projects which gives a lot of freedom to the students to follow their interests while integrating the knowledge of what they work on.

I understand that these types of centers will not work for everyone, but it was very moving to see in the video the point of view of a father who said that he just needed a center that would motivate his daughter, one that she would leave happy and THAT was precisely what his daughter needed.

On the other hand, and related to the topic that one of the positive aspects of the center is that it has a lot of research, so the teachers are in constant training. In my personal experience, for my Final Degree Project, I did a research on education, based on what aspects needed to be improved in BOECYL since it is the basis of secondary education and in the field of English, in the area of pronunciation there were no clear guidelines to follow and much less based on communication. Right now, I am starting a research project in which I will study the transition of students in social vulnerability from primary to ESO; for this, I will visit four centers, two of primary education and two secondary education. 

I am very interested in research related to education, but above all, I am much more interested in the application of the results obtained in real life: our goal is to improve the education of students, not to spend time theorizing about it without developing any measures. We can make a real change in them, and that is a value promoted by the O Pelouro center: they use research to improve their center.
